Online people use the term ROTFL all the time to indicate “rolling on the floor, laughing.” If you were in the same room with the typist you would find that the person is rarely on the floor, not rolling, and the laughter, if at all audible, is usually no more than a chuckle. Last night, while preparing a feast of pancakes for dinner (because I could not stand yet another night of chicken soup), I was listening to a podcast that played the song My Cat is Afraid of the Vacuum Cleaner (mp3, 2 MB). I really was not expecting or adequately prepared for the song’s sudden gear shift and by the end, I literally had to pick my laughing ass up from the floor.
