in Dear Diary

I finished changing the oil, just in time for it to start raining heavily.  I like that feeling.  I beat the elements by about 45 seconds.

In contrast, that feeling of release, of slight movement, when trying to unscrew a very tight oil filter is not actually the oil filter giving way, but ends up being the skin on your palm tearing free, it is not at all a nice feeling.  It requires a large bandage and a trip to the auto parts store for a new tool.  In fifteen years I have never needed an oil filter wrench, but I guess I do now.
