I fin­ished chang­ing the oil, just in time for it to start rain­ing heav­ily.  I like that feel­ing.  I beat the ele­ments by about 45 seconds.

In con­trast, that feel­ing of release, of slight move­ment, when try­ing to unscrew a very tight oil fil­ter is not actu­ally the oil fil­ter giv­ing way, but ends up being the skin on your palm tear­ing free, it is not at all a nice feel­ing.  It requires a large ban­dage and a trip to the auto parts store for a new tool.  In fif­teen years I have never needed an oil fil­ter wrench, but I guess I do now.
