Through the looking glass

You know how, in Alice’s Adventures Through the Looking Glass, she goes into a mirror world where everything is backwards? In taking PhotoBooth pictures of Ebenezer the other day, I came to realize that there is a similar mirror world in my Mac. Maybe this isn’t surprising, considering Neo’s trip down the rabbit hole or … Continue reading Through the looking glass

Recent acquisitions

The Mac Mini hooked up to the TV: upgradinated! When did memory become so cheap? It came with the factory-stuffed pair of 256MB sticks. Watching MP4 videos with 512MB was passable. Watching those videos while it did anything else in the background (downloading, transcoding, or even with iTunes sitting idle) was ch-ch-ch-choppy. It now has … Continue reading Recent acquisitions

New Apps!

The new Delicious Library is out! This one includes pretty easy website publishing. You can check out my library of books and DVDs right here. I am still confused by the sort order on the web export–it does not appear to be by alphabetical order by title or author–so I’m not sure how you’re supposed … Continue reading New Apps!

Flickr?

Currently, I keep all of my photos in Aperture. I then use a plugin to sync from there to my own photo site, running the Gallery PHP application. Laptop Woes

My laptop currently seems to be f’ed in the a.  It has been behaving a little flaky in the past week or so (perhaps since the latest OS and graphics update.)  I would come back to my desk and notice the screensaver had locked up and the screen had a number of pixels with the … Continue reading Laptop Woes

Macworld Thoughts

Of the things announced by El Steveo, I have to say that I’m thrilled by the technology in general, but not terribly interested in owning much of it. My thoughts: * MacBook Air: yep, it’s tiny. My laptop really serves as a portable desktop, so a super-thin slightly underpowered/underfeatured laptop just does not do it … Continue reading Macworld Thoughts

Macworld Predictions

Macworld is around the corner, and that always means new products will be announced and pundits are trying to predict them before they’re out, based on the tiny bit of information that has trickled out of Apple. Here are my predictions: * The iPhone development kit. This is a no-brainer. I predict that this will … Continue reading Macworld Predictions
