“If a great musician plays great music but no one hears… was he really any good?”

One of the world’s best violinists playing some beautiful and technically challenging pieces on a violin made in 1713, worth about $3.5M, playing…

…in a Washing DC metro station. This man has played in front of royalty. He makes $1000 a minute during performances. One person recognized him, another recognized his talents, but overall he made $32.17 in the three quarters of an hour he played. Mostly, people ignored him.

It’s a lengthy article, but is so very much worth the read. There are also video clips of specific points during the performance.
