Interesting. So now we not only have volunteer-created free WiFi in Portland, but we now (just coming out of beta) have municipal WiFi. I don’t know that I’ve seen the SSID, but apparently, there is a base station on a light pole a few houses down. That actually might explain some of the interference issues I’ve been having with my fixed-channel stealth-mode WiFi base station. (…which has since been switched to an automatic channel–it was only fixed because I needed that for WDS, but don’t use WDS any more.)
