For those that haven’t heard of Free Geek, it’s a local 503(c) nonprofit that recycles your old computer equipment, giving free computers to those that need them (including local coffee shops and large organizations.) The stolen computers were supposed to go to the Lower Chinook Tribe, Veterans for Peace, the Council of Jewish Women, and Bolivian Medical Exchange. If you volunteer your time to help them refurbish and test machines, 40 hours gets you a free computer. Or, I guess, you can bust in and steal some. That’s just f’ed up.
