In honor of Mother’s Day, I just finished watching Throw Mamma From The Train. I had forgotten how much I like it! Normally, I really hate Billy Crystal and am kind of indifferent toward Danny Devito. Something about Billy as the straight-man and Danny as the innocent lunatic and the scary old lady from Goonies as the scary old lady from Throw Mamma From The Train just ends up magically working. Obviously, it is like Strangers on a Train, which Kate and I saw the other evening. It also had some bits that were reminiscent of Vertigo, slapstick ouchiness like from Home Alone, and tape-on-the-face Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure wackiness. Despite the Home Alone bits, it is still an excellent and funny film in this writer’s opinion.
