Isn’t life (in the biological organism sense of the word) amazing! I guess what goes down must also come up … your toilet is connected by the wastewater system to the ocean. I’m wondering if this is an ocean or estuarine organism that has crawled its way all the way through the wastewater system, and does reasonably well in freshwater.
Along those lines, when living in Victoria (another Pacific coastal city), I noticed a tendency for something that looked a lot like a red algae to appear in my toilet, and at the drain of my sinks and bathtub. I thought maybe it was something precipitating out of the water, but who knows … maybe it was alive.
heh.
You said ‘ballcock’
heh.
You said ‘barnacle’
Uh huh huh. You said toilet.
*snigger*
What are those things?!! Any chance of a close-up?
