I am very for­tu­nate in that I work in a place that, while a large amount of it is writ­ing code, there is still sci­ence to be done.  I can put up with the occa­sional meet­ing full of peo­ple vying for what color to make icons because I peri­od­i­cally get to put on a lab coat and play with sol­der­ing irons, lasers, and cir­cuit boards.
