I'd put it on-par with the OS X VNC server I used with x2vnc. They both have some minor annoyances, but nothing hazardous. Specifically: the VNC server+x2vnc had the annoying habit of putting the mouse in the lower-right corner whenever I moved off the screen edge (thereby triggering the screensaver, the way I had screen corners set up), paste would barely work, and I had to configure it to emulate the X mouse wheel with arrow key presses. With Synergy, I can't seem to remotely trigger the screensaver, no mater how hard I try (even using the corners of the screen)--I have to use the keyboard. It has similar paste issues. I had not noticed the mouse wheel issue or that "the cursor won't hide when not on the screen" issue on their front page. For the occasional browser click or shell command, it works just fine for me. Plus, an improper exit doesn't bring down my whole X server, which is a win in my book.
