Alas,” said the cat, and ate it up.

in Dear Diary

Why is it that the gub’ment can repeal and/or change a few amendments without a second thought (the Anti-Terrorism Act that makes hacking an act of terrorism, the mandate that terrorists can be tortured, and the order that suspected terrorists can be tried in secret military courts without the right to appeal), yet it takes them months to figure out if they want our airport security guards to be government employees or governmentally trained/tested private rent-a-cops?

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.
